Evan Ellis - "How China's Pursuit of Self-Interest Impacts Latin America"
Contribution to The Brookings Institution Debate "How are the United States and China intersecting in Latin America?" with Leland Lazarus, Ted Piccone, and Valerie Wirtschafter
Dear Colleagues:
I would like to share with you my new essay “How China’s Pursuit of Self-Interest Impacts Latin America.”
The work is my contribution to an important new public discussion of China’s engagement with Latin America “How are the United States and China intersecting in Latin America?" just published by The Brookings Institution. That broader work also includes important perspectives from distinguished colleagues Leland Lazarus, Ted Piccone, and Valerie Wirtschafter.
The collected work, including our responses to each other’s point of view, was published by Brookings in anticipation of a seminar discussion that we will be holding at the Steven J. Green School of Public Affairs in Miami, Florida on the matter on October 4th, 2024: “The United States and China in Latin America: Cooperation, Rivalry, or Something In-Between?”
For further information regarding the event, the link to The Brookings Institution website for the event is available here:
