Evan Ellis, Ryan Berg, on the Geopolitical Dimension of Honduras' Special Economic Zones (ZEDEs)

Dear Colleague: Although I just wrote to you yesterday, I am proud to share with you an article on a very different topic (Honduras), co-authored with my colleague Ryan Berg at CSIS. The work looks at the geopolitics of Honduras' special economic zones (ZEDEs), key to providing investment alternatives for Honduras to help address "root causes" of migration and offset more predatory PRC alternatives. ZEDEs and their potential as an engine for growth and prosperity at this very difficult moment for Honduras are currently at risk due to legislative changes by the Xiomara Castro and her now-governing LIBRE party, who (arguably inaccurately and counterproductively) rallied her followers against ZEDEs in her campaign.
