Evan Ellis - Security Challenges in Panama and the Government Response
Dear Colleague,
With this email, I would like to share with you my new work on security challenges in Panama and the Panamanian government response. The work is based on my conversations with senior Panamanian government and other security sector leaders during my research trip to that country in February 2023.
This work, focused on the dynamics of narcotics and other organized crime in the country, gangs, and migration. It looks at what the Panamanian security forces, including the National Police, the border security service (SENAFRONT) and the Air and Naval Service (SENAN), are doing to respond, in conjunction with the U.S. and other partners.
Versions of the work were published in Spanish by the Argentine news service InfoBAE. Global Americans has moved away from their former practice of publishing in-depth works as single articles—Thus their version of the work is included as a two-part series.
The integrated article in Spanish is available here for download:
It is also available in Spanish from InfoBAE:

The work is available in English as a two-part series for download:
Part 1: Emerging Security Challenges:
Part 2: Official Responses to Panama’s Security Challenges
It is similarly available from the Global Americans website:
