Evan Ellis - The Counter-Cartel Summit, Iran, and the Strategic Outlook for Latin America
Dear Colleagues:
In this new article, I provide an extended analysis of the relationships between new security policies and initiatives of the U.S. with our partners in Latin America and the Caribbean; regional security challenges such as transnational organized crime; and the impact of the evolving conflict in Iran and the global security environment on the region.
The work highlights the complex interacting strategic dynamics and risks of the moment we are currently living through in the region. It is more important than ever to navigate those dynamics and perils with strategic wisdom, respectful dialogue, and principled decency. I hope that this may be a useful and thought-provoking overview for policymakers and security professionals, as well as academic audiences.
It is written strictly in my personal capacity as Senior Non-Resident Fellow with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), on my own time with my own computer.
