Leland Lazarus & Evan Ellis: "Can Latin America and the Caribbean Trust China as a Business Partner?"
Dear Colleague:
I hope this email finds you well, enjoying the holidays (as appropriate) with family, and preparing for a 2022 that brings you and your loved ones many good things.
I am pleased to share my newest article, co-written with lead author Leland Lazarus and just published in The Diplomat, “Can Latin America and the Caribbean Trust China as a Business Partner?” The article looks at the troubling record of non-performance, corruption, and difficulties with environmental compliance and local communities. It argues the particular importance in applying principles of transparency, due diligence, and the oversight of competent government institutions when choosing to deal with Chinese companies, and ways that the U.S. can be of help as a partner in this regard.
The article is available here as a PDF file:
You can also download it from the website of The Diplomat, which published it:

I very much value your interest in my (our) work, and look forward to continuing in touch in the new year. If you believe that these (always free) articles are of value, please feel free to join my distro list through the link below, or share with a colleague…
I wish you many blessings in 2022 for you and your loved ones…
