Evan Ellis - New Developments in China-Latin America Relations

With this email, I would like to share with you my chapter in an important new book on Latin America security issues, just published by the Center for Strategic Studies of the Peruvian Army (CEEEP), in conjunction with my own U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute (USAWC SSI) and the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies (WJPC).
The book, published in both English and Spanish, provides a collection of timely analyses and essays on the region’s most pressing security issues, from the activities of extra-hemispheric actors to transnational organized crime and climate change, by a range of leading authors on these topics from across the region, the U.S., Spain, and other countries. It also features prologues by the Commanding General of U.S. Southern Command, GEN Laura Richardson, as well as by the head of the Peruvian Army, General Walter Horacio Córdova Alemán.
I highly recommend this work as a reference for all interested in security issues of the region. I am proud to have played a role in the production and editing of this volume, including a role in the introductory chapter, and of course, my own chapter on Chinese activities in the region.
